The Organisation
The customer is a leading international pharmaceutical retail and manufacturing business headquartered in the United States. They own a suite of major pharmacy chains, as well as several pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution companies.
The business has a rich heritage, dating back to the 1800s. Now they serve millions of customers and patients every day, and in 2022 had a revenue of ~£107 billion.
The Challenge
This business had been working with the traditional spreadsheet solution to pay review for many years. However, the process had now become tortuous for a number of reason:
The review is relatively complex, with the system needing to manage five different currencies simultaneously. And it covers the whole process, from the initial performance review through to the final bonus decisions.
The decision making crosses borders. Executives from the UK and USA are necessary for approving increases, which means handling data security, cloud storage, and different time zones.
The organisation also utilises dynamic bonus ranges, which meant custom calculations needed to be constantly maintained and updated based on employee performance.
The was all resulting in a drawn-out review process. Managers were constantly hamstrung by bumpy processes, and vital HR resource were bogged down in managing the review.
